We hope you will consider making a gift to SEALT. Each of us has benefited in some way from the great pioneering Western movement that was built from the dreams of many determined individuals. It is our increasing responsibility to share that determination and never allow the vision of the vast Western rangeland to permanently disappear from the landscape. The disappearance of this beautiful open space will have devastating effects on our lifestyle, both visually and environmentally, for generations to come.
An investment in our program pays off every time a land trust perpetual conservation easement keeps a special view open, a hawk’s nest safe, native fish in a creek’s headwaters, or a ranching family on the land. These special landscapes contribute to the character and communities of southeast Arizona.
It is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to preserve open space in southeast Arizona. Each year we raise our annual budget with gifts from individuals and foundations. Well over half of our funding comes from individuals with gifts in the range of $10 to $10,000. Donations are tax-deductible. Donors will be recognized in the SEALT newsletter, or, if you prefer, you may remain anonymous. We’ll also provide a letter thanking you for the donation that you can use for tax purposes. Please act now.
Ways You Can Help
Unrestricted
Gifts
These tax deductible cash contributions help us to meet our annual operating
expenses and build an alliance of donors who believe in the core values of
land preservation and conservation values.
Restricted Gifts
Gifts of this nature are tax deductible and can be designated to support a
specific SEALT project -- like the Emily F. Stevens Endowment (legal
defense fund) or the SEALT Monitoring Endowment.
Gifts of Securities
Donating stock or mutual funds can be arranged to support SEALT’s efforts. Either you or your bank/broker can simply inform SEALT of your intentions, and then we will provide instructions to transfer the stock to SEALT’s special brokerage account. It’s that simple. Please
call the SEALT office at (520) 455-5592 for more information.
Bequests
Including the Southeast Arizona Land Trust in your will is another great way to make a lasting contribution to conservation and to the historic ranching traditions of our community. Please call the SEALT office for more information.
Tribute Gifts
Donations can be made as a Memorial gift in memory of a loved one or as an Honorary gift to pay tribute to a significant family member, friend or business associate. This is a wonderful way to permanently recognize those outstanding individuals who have left impressions on our lives.
Matching Gifts
Matching gifts from your employer is a good source of steady, predictable operating income for SEALT. Matching gifts are initiated by donors whose company offers such a program. If your employer does not have a matching gift program, an inquiry from an employee can sometimes help motivate management to set one up.
Donating Conservation Easements
Donating a conservation easement is not only a gift to the Land Trust, but a lasting contribution to the community, future generations, and to the health and welfare of the wildlife and habitat of the region. In addition to the philanthropic motivations of donating a conservation easement, income and estate tax incentives may apply.
In-Kind Gifts
SEALT often accepts in-kind gifts, whose value (determined by you) is tax-deductible.
How You Benefit
Your tax deductible gift to the Southeast Arizona Land Trust is an important way to make a large step in the battle to safeguard southeastern Arizona’s open rangeland and natural beauty. By supporting our land conservation efforts, you will help to protect the Western landscape and this right of heritage for our future generations.
We are always looking for food, beverage, and
raffle items for our annual events.
Volunteer Opportunities
Are you looking for a challenging volunteer opportunity that can help protect the natural ecosystems and ranching traditions of southeast Arizona?
The gift of time is essential to our success. SEALT is seeking volunteers for a wide range of projects. Opportunities range from one day to ongoing projects that will be both fun and rewarding.
Please contact the SEALT office if you are contributing time and expertise in any of the following areas:

Ten Ways You Can Help
1. Support local ranchers
by contributing to our efforts to preserve working ranchlands.
2. Spread the word about SEALT – protection of important conservation values and ranchland. Throughout the United States, nearly one million acres of farm and ranchland were bulldozed for sprawl development last year. Since its founding in 2000, SEALT has protected more than 5,500 acres of southeastern Arizona ranchland.
3. Maintain a tradition.
4. Rediscover southeast Arizona. Take a day trip along a scenic back road.
5. Visit our office at 3170 Highway 83, Suite #A. Our staff is only part-time, so it’s wise to call ahead first. We’d love to engage you in a discussion about our work.
6. Be our eyes and ears. Clip and send us local coverage of ranchland issues. You can help us identify emerging threats to Arizona grasslands.
7. Participate in our Conservation Buyer Program – as a realtor, buyer or seller – in which we serve as a matchmaker to match conservation-worthy properties with buyers who have an interest in purchasing and protecting those properties. Give us a call to see if we have any Conservation Buyer properties available.
8. Let your legislators know you care about preserving ranchland in southeast Arizona.
9. Volunteer for SEALT! Complete the “Volunteer Opportunities” questionnaire above or contact SEALT office staff.
10.Support SEALT. Private contributions are the heart and soul of our success. Your annual gift provides the solid base of support that SEALT needs to perform its critical work – acquisition, stewardship, and education. |
